VintageKrugParticipantI have a friend who has been seconded at short notice from New York to a project in London.
The client offices where she will be working are in Holborn.
She has been lodged at a Citadines Aparthotel in the Barbican. While close to the office, the interior of the apartment is soul-destroying (fold out bed!) and I cannot imagine the weekends are exactly buzzing there.

An alternative is urgently sought.
So, need some assistance from BT gurus on short stay apartments in Central London.
Criteria:
Single Woman, 30s
Not South London
Not North London (anything north of Hampstead)
Somewhere easy on the tube in the morning (30 mins train ride)
Safe coming home late at night.
Nightlife in reasonable proximity (nothing suburban).
3 months. Budget £9,000 ish.
Looking forward to your suggestions!

MartynSinclairParticipantAs a “service” style apartment was not mentioned as part of your criteria and with an abudance of high end rental property available for rent, I would suggest approaches to rental agents (on a personal intro basis). Whilst generally landlords are looking for 6 – 12 month minimum rental periods, 3 months are not uncommon in order for landlords to avoid rental voids.
If nightlife is important, with Covent Garden on the door step not only will your friend save on commuting costs, but she will be within the buzz of the west end.
Alternatively, St. Johns Wood area has many secure purpose built apartments/flats with security and has plenty of cafe style sociable places. Swiss Cottage and St Johns Wood tube lines are both within walking distance.
Hope this helps.

GeorgehillParticipantVintage Krug,
Although this may be a slightly outdated post, one of the best options is to look at some of the serviced accommodation provider websites, my company Go Native has access to 25,000 apartments worldwide and several hundred in the London area.
One of the problems with rental agencies is the fees that they charge for finding properties and also many require a minimum contract. We do neither.
We specialise in relocations and the business market, so if anybody else finds themselves in a similar situation visit our website to see what we can offer. There is the option of extended stays or simply staying with us for 1 or 2 nights whilst the move is made. It is cheaper than a hotel and we also have locations all over London so entertainment shouldnt be a problem. Several of our apartments are also in facilities with 24 hour concierge and security, so safety is also a top priority for us.
We also recently won the corporate housing company of the year at the EMMA awards, so our service and choice is one of the best in the UK.17 Nov 2010

GeorgehillParticipantVintageKrug,
Glad she found somewhere. We work with SACO quite alot, it looks like a nice apartment, although I’m not sure about the ominous picture above the bed!

TomBuckleyParticipantDid you try looking here at venues for hire in London ? They got a nice list of venues for a business man (well, not only), so you can choose something yourself. Just choose what you need and click the search button.
