Surely a direct high speed rail link between LHR-LGW should be on the agenda? Is it true there is an old disused line between the two – going through or near Woking? A non-stop high speed Mona rail would be ideal and would take 30 minutes or so? Thoughts anyone?

The proposed extension of the Staines SWTrains service into LHR has been cancelled by Heathrow management as no longer cost effective. There is an existing route using the Brighton Southern Railway mainline to Clapham then using the route used by the Kesnington Olympia, Shepherds Bush Milton Keynes service branching onto the First Great Western I believe near Southall. The majority of this route if not all was electrified to enable the eurostars to use a Depot via this line. It is not high speed with low speeds form Clapham to Southall but an effective 45-50 minute non stop could run using a Thameslink dual power stock (there are also some Electrostars which have dual power) not sure if eurostars would fit loading gauge and platfrom length. This would also not involve cost and could take Bus Traffic off the roads and make a better connection.
