Does anyone know why flights below 18000′ have been grounded? With the uniqueness of long distant taxi fares – (i know of Sheffield to Dusseldorf and London to Stuttgart over this weekend) – I cant seem to fathom out why general aviation – light twins and even heavy duty piston singles which can offer UK – Europe (VFR or at the lower end of IFR) commercial and non commercial have been stopped from flying. This would appear to offer some kind of solution for a similar cost that taxis are charging.
I know that this wouldnt suit the likes of VK as there are no flat beds or gourmet meals, but it would suit the likes of some people who are paying in excess of $3000 for taxis into Europe.
