One piece of good news this evening concerns a tweet from French Embassy UK which says that any quarantine measures would not affect “People entering France from the European area (EU, Schengen, UK)”

This is an improvement compared to what was announced yesterday. We cannot exclude the idea that either Brussels or Berlin had to be persuasive on this occasion…

Now I may be too close to the chalkface, but from what I understand, if you want to visit France, you will still need to have a very good reason to do so … not simply tourism. From 11 May those from the EU (including the UK) who want to enter France will need to have completed an Attestation de déplacement international (https://uk.ambafrance.org/Coronavirus-Covid-19-transports-vers-la-France). This needs to be filled in online and printed out and signed, or written out by hand. At present it cannot be downloaded onto a mobile phone or equivalent (though that may come, as it did for our Attestation de déplacement dérogatoire, about 3 weeks after we had to present paper copies).

No longer the joys of popping into Switzerland to visit an Art Gallery or to go to the Opera … nor to Germany for different (and often cheaper) foodstuffs for those of us in Dreieckland!

Please stay well. If you have to travel, do so safely. Kindest regards to all members and readers of the Forum. Staying in touch is great for the morale and helpful for future travel planning.
