PeterCoultasParticipantSimonS1: So farm employers in the UK are screening workers in the workers country…. and you consider that remotely satisfactory…. lousy screening methods and lots of bribery options makes it almost as safe as the UK’s total inertia at LHR for the last 4 months… LOL

Well there was a 30 minute mini doc on it on Sky.
Workers screened in Romania (in that case), flown to Stansted, taken straight to the farms where they had accommodation on site.
Hardly high risk stuff but I realise the pressure to pander to those who feel something must be done. Even if it means crops are wasted and food prices go up.

ElenaBlockedFrance follows Austria, which on Tuesday said it was forbidding direct flights and voyager visits from Britain, and Germany, which on Friday said anyone entering from the United Kingdom would have to separation for a seriously significant time-frame on appearance.
“There is what’s going on with the development of the alleged Indian variety in the United Kingdom,” said government agent Gabriel Attal. “(France) will set up mandatory disengagement for people coming from the United Kingdom.”

Oh come on ‘Elena’ …. this is ‘old news’ in that it is OUT OF DATE and not pertinent. This is the current situation …. https://uk.ambafrance.org/COVID-19-rules-for-travel-between-France-and-the-UK-28918#t1-Travelling-from-the-UK-to-France
Mobility rules and regulations
No restriction shall apply when entering metropolitan France from a green list country or territory (the United Kingdom has been on the green list since 31 March 2022). No compelling reason is required for travellers to France.
Health control measures
Should you wish to enter France from a “green” list country or territory:
No negative test on departure is required for travellers vaccinated according to EU regulations. These travellers must present proof of this vaccination to the transport company and border control authorities.
Unvaccinated travellers must present a negative result of a PCR test less than 72 hours old or an antigen test less than 48 hours old before departure (departure of the first flight when the journey includes a connection), or a certificate of recovery (positive result of a PCR or antigen test carried out more than 11 days and less than six months previously. This certificate is only valid for a period of six months from the date of the examination or test).
Self-administered tests whose results are not certified by an approved private test provider (e.g. free tests provided by the NHS) are not valid for travel. The NHS has stated that it will not carry out any tests for the purposes of travel. People should therefore use private organizations providing a similar service. No specific tests exist which are linked to the new variant identified.
The UK authorities are updating a list of centres permitted to carry out COVID-19 testing. This list can be viewed at: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/list-of-private-providers-of-coronavirus-testing/list-of-private-providers-of-coronavirus-testing.
N.B. We also strongly advise you to contact your travel operator to find out more about their travel requirements.
No measures (tests, isolation) are in force upon arrival in metropolitan France.
Children under 12 are exempt from these formalities.
