Flybe will axe Cardiff to London City in late October

    News just confirmed that Flybe will cease its Cardiff to London City route on October 27.

    It’s something which BT predicted would happen (see Online news link below) as the Flybe website was not displaying any schedules after the above date.

    Flybe to drop Cardiff-London City route?

    Flybe is blaming its decision on the cost of APD which must be applied to each flight segment and therefore makes its prices uncompetitive with rail travel … especially on such a short sector.

    And rail will become more competitive as GWR will soon be introducing new electric Hitachi trainsets.

    However Flybe says it would reconsider its decision if the level of APD were divolved to the Welsh Government.
