PatJordanParticipantSaw this on an Irish newspaper this morning:
Could this be the beginnings of a new alliance? With no baggage charges for frequent flyers????

syclik5ParticipantNo, it can’t be an alliance.
The idea is that FlyBE provides the competition formerly provided by Aer Lingus in the event (seen by all as very slim) that Ryanair is allowed to take over Aer Lingus. Therefore, Ryanair and FlyBE will not be allowed to collaborate/connive together.
I also can’t see FR being allowed to “donate” money on top of routes/crews/business in this manner. Highly farcical.

transtraxmanParticipantThe news was mentioned on Airwise 4th Feb……
“Ryanair To Pay Flybe To Take Aer Lingus Routes”http://news.airwise.com/story/view/1360031186.html
….but there was no mention of an alliance.

openflyParticipantI can only think that this is a good piece of aviation logic.
Flybe is saved from bankruptcy with the immediate €100million cash injection plus the guaranteed profit of €27 million for the next three years, irrespective of their losses.
It is also an excellent deal for the BA 15% holding in Flybe. Ryanair will effectively be paying BA €15m for the pleasure of the agreement plus 15% of the guaranteed profit for the next three years.
Its a win…win situation for Flybe and BA. There must be a hitch, but I can’t see it.6 Feb 2013
