onajetplaneParticipantAer Lingus regional has announced new flights on two former Flybe routes – East Midlands and Newcastle from Belfast City. The East Midlands launch will be the day before Ryanair launches to Belfast Intl. I would imagine Aer Lingus regional will be somewhat of an anomaly here with regards directly taking on new (former Flybe) routes – as can’t really think of many others that might have a viable carrier swoop in.
Also – re. a previous point on now lack of competition on the BHD-LHR route (given Aer Lingus and Flybe now gone) – BA is rather quietly dropping back down to 4 flights on the route from November, as opposed to the up to 7 it will be flying this summer. Big loss for NI connectivity.

LuganoPirateParticipantIf either one manages to take over Flybe, it will be interesting to see how they get round the majority ownership rule. I’m presuming what is good for the goose, will also be good for the gander, or will our government buckle and allow an EU airline to have a majority stake in a British airline without any reciprocity?

onajetplaneParticipantAnd so the saga continues… Flybe 3.0 anyone? It seems the Administrators have applied for a temporary operating license!

AMcWhirterParticipantAs mentioned on an earlier posting here … it’s the LHR slots which is where the real value lies.
Loganair CEO Jonathan Hinkles confirms that his airline was the first to apply for seven pairs of ex-Fybe slots at LHR.

tomwjsimpsonParticipantI wouldn’t be surprised if the Tata group doesn’t have a noted interest on these, after all, with close to 500 new planes on order for Air India (including 70 widebodies) they will need to fly these somewhere!

sandiego1ParticipantReports today suggest any sale of the slots to AF or LH have collapsed, the slots were originally remedy slots released by BA as part of the deal to buy BMI and therefore have limitations on their use. With LHR reintroducing the use it or lose it rule from March, it seems this really is the end of Flybe and like many, I won’t be sorry to say farewell.

Exclusive: Flybe, the regional airline which fell into insolvency proceedings last month, is to be permanently grounded after talks with prospective bidders were terminated by administrators Interpath Advisory because of regulatory complexities. https://t.co/nLbhAreUsQ

AMcWhirterParticipantThose Flybe slots at Heathrow have been transferred back to BA.
@LondonAirTravel shows the slot swap request form below.
Reports on social media (not yet confirmed by BA) say that BA will temporarily use these slots to operate extra services to Manchester and Edinburgh … until the slots are transferred to another carrier.
Certainly Manchester makes sense as, because of the rail strikes and the problems at Avanti, BA’s flights on that route are very busy which equates to high fares.
On Monday the 27th some of BA’s flights are priced at around £350 and almost £420. Those are for *one-way* economy class flights !
As expected, Flybe's summer 2023 Heathrow slots have also reverted back to British Airways.
These are expected to be advertised if someone wants to follow Virgin Little Red, Flybe 1.0 and Flybe 2.0 in using these remedy slots… https://t.co/TwKmqHT0HE pic.twitter.com/gZ1LN2CF1M
