Flixtrain is what’s termed an ‘open acess’ operator. In competes in Germany with DB (Deutsche Bahn) and operates conventional trains over classic routes to a number of main destinations.

Flixtrain is covered in a feature of some lesser-known mainland European rail services in the April issue of Business Traveller.

Anyway this operator has now suspended its services within Germany from yesterday until at least the end of April.

It says tickets can be used in standard class on DB’s ICE and IC (Intercity) trains.

Swiss rail (SBB) now stops all trains at the border. Travel within Switzerland is still possible but only up to the frontier.
