Last year we reported on Eurostar beginning to scrap its Alstom trains at a West Midlands plant.

Over the next few years most of the original fleet will be scrapped so that just eight Alstom trainsets will remain in service.

But now Eurostar has begun scrapping a number of trainsets in France.

These sites are normally secret and out-of-bound to members of the public.

But I came across pics on flickr taken at a site, I understand it’s in Northern France or in Belgium, of a trainset awaiting its fate. Pics have been taken by Stefaan Decuypere.

What is interesting is that the interiors (except for the dust etc) remain in fine fettle. There are even unread magazines still stacked in a carriage rack.

However one doesn’t know the condition of the power car which is the most important fact.

Here’s the piece we ran last year with reader comments on these trainsets’ demise.
