On a recent post-retirement trip from our home in Canada to travel around Europe (UK-Belgium-Holland-Germany-Ireland) for four weeks we decided to try Eurostar for the experience!

The folks at Eurostar seem to love promoting their speed and convenience compared with short-haul flights. And at this they do excel!

BUT, for anyone with heavy luggage it can be very daunting. Unlike airlines the Eurostar people require all passengers place all their luggage on moving conveyors which seem to be about 3ft off the ground to be checked by very “enthusiastic” security staff! This is very difficult for seniors or anyone with physical limitations.

We tried Eurostar twice; 2007 from Waterloo and 2008 from Paddington, and it is great – for business and casual travellers.
