Emirates has grounded the AB 380 from its duties on the DXB-JFK run and replaced it with a B777 ER in the meantime.
No official reason given however usual ‘guff’ about regular engineering maintenance (they only got it just over one month back!)

However the intriguing rumour is that the problems are associated with the new on board showers. It seems that that there is some problem with the electronics that are used to control the heating elements for the water have interfered with the aircraft’s avionics.

Desperately seeking more information to understand what is causing Mr.T.C.Larks discomfort in the shower!

Meanwhile all pax are being de-camped to B777’s until EK and Airbus find a certified plumber and electrician for the plague stricken AB 380!

This is really unfortunate – you would have thought they would have undertaken extensive testing but I guess at the expense of trying to rush the launch of the A380, they have suffered this consequence. I recall SIA had problems with their fuel pumps but very limited “snag list” issues with their proven cabins…..
