Ever made a bet that some time later you regret? To cough up or try squirm out of it…….

When DL first invested in VS Willie Walsh claimed that the Virgin brand would disappear within five years. SRB bet him £1m it wouldn’t. Willie Walsh bet ‘a knee in the groin’.

Well, the five years have passed and Virgin Atlantic is still there.

Willie Walsh and honourable are two words I would not expect to see in an article let alone the same sentence.

Exactly…..The pair of them should man up, after all what’s a million pounds between friends these day. I’d much prefer to see something akin to this ………

Here’s the original thread from 2012 when the bet was made.

I was at the press conference and so also provided some of the background…

“Just to provide a little context to this, since I was there…

This was in a press conference with the media in Seoul.

Walsh had expressed his opinion a couple of days before that if the Delta deal went ahead, he couldn’t see Delta wanting the Virgin brand long term….”

We also have a seperate thread on whether the Virgin brand will disappear

    Is it goodbye Virgin?!
