Canucklad @12:59 – sorry didn’t pick you up on that one!

No we didn’t have any sightings of the aurora borealis here – we are in the east! But we do see it from time to time – it’s quite spectacular isn’t it!

Sorry all that’s totally off topic.

VK – stop posting and it’ll soon disappear … ok I know need to follow my own advice LOL!

VK – go and read my last Aussie Adventure and be quiet or Nanny will have you sat on the naughty step quicker than you can say “spank”! …. 😉

Nanny never used the naughty step – it simply wasn’t needed!

I think the real question on everyone’s lips – and I know you all want to ask but are too afraid to mention it – is whether Sir Jimmy Savile should have been allowed in the Business Class lounge.

Can’t say that the question posed by the poster above was everon my lips. But then I have kids and do not find the remark anything but offensive given the circumstances.

Agree with SimonR – often it’s the so called businessmen that are a pain in the arse with the old ‘I’m so bloody important and everyone in the lounge should know it’ routine.

If you’re being impacted by anyone else’s behaviour, there’s no point suffering in silence (even if it’s silence you’re looking for).

I did bottle saying anything to the person I once saw cutting their toenails in Galleries F – approaching any closer risked shrapnel.

However, I’ve often called out the fact that people are talking rather loudly; if it’s done in the right way I’ve generally found people receptive to other people, even Americans.

I am not even sure anymore it is kids that are the problem / issue / irritants – my last couple of flights back from the US have shocked even me, i witnessed a guy get so drunk drinking his duty free vodka that the police had to escort him from the plane when we landed. The amazing part here, his wife and 2 kids were with him, BA club back from the west coast. Incidentaly his kids were extremely well behaved minding their own business watching films.

@northseatiger…..”his wife and 2 kids were with him”

And one wonders why we drink.

Believe me, I’d rather share a lounge with six children rather than one loudmouthed “executive” talking on a cell phone! Especially one with a headset, who paces restlessly back and forth behind my chair arguing about his (usually it’s a he) latest million-dollar deal. These people are some of the rudest travelers I’ve encountered anywhere.

My goodness gracious, it’s no wonder there’s so much strife in the world. I did not say one negative word about that little kid in the Hilton lounge. I merely related an experience and asked people’s opinions because I was interested in said opinions. GET A GRIP, guys. I don’t hate your kids, I have no opinion on whether they should join me for breakfast or not. I was curious about how other biz travellers felt.

And just to prove I’m a balanced, sane human, forgiving you all for the nasty remarks and attacks against my persona, let me tell you another lounge story. At the same Hilton, my husband and I came skipping in at cocktail time (several tables filled with murmuring French people but no meanie Scots) and sat down to admire the view with the lovely champers and goodies. An American couple came in, greeting the hostess as tho she was a long-lost sister and talking quite loudly to each other. Another guy appeared 5mins later. They sat about 3 tables apart and proceeded to converse at top decible. During a pause, my husband called over and sweetly suggested to them that they all sit at one table so they didn’t have to shout at each other. After a silent moment, one said “sorry”, the other said “thank you”. They all moved to one table and conversed in normal tones. It was pretty cool.
