The irony of this is, you may need to show some proof of funds, ie. cash, but then if you leave the UK with more than £ 1,000 you risk getting the third degree (as has happened to me on more than one occasion) as to where the cash came from, proof of its provenance etc!

The limit for taking cash out of the UK without making a declaration is supposed to be £10,000.

Thirty years of travel to Thailand, mostly into BKK (but also a lot into H KT) – never once been asked for proof of funds

    Hi All,

In the end we entered BKK twice – once from HEL and once from PPN on the way home.

Thanks to the advice on here, we were aware of, and used, the Fast Track immigration. It was extremely straightforward and quick and no questions asked about funds.

    Thanks again for the help.

    Regards,

    Simon
