Update. The high-speed line will now remain closed until Sunday evening.

The track damage is worse than expected. Reports from Germany say this HS line is likely to remain closed for one week.

When I checked Bahn.co.uk for ICE Cologne-Frankfurt availability/fares nothing was displayed in the coming days.

This is a crucial section of the line. Journey times will be extended as now trains take the slower classic route along the Rhine.

Many connections will be lost as DB’s ICE network is built around short connection times at various key stations which include Colpgne HBF and Frankfurt HBF.
