There has been a Concorde open to viewing at Bristol’s Filton airfield since her retirement.

Maintenance is required on the airframe, and this will need to be performed under cover.

As a consequence, the airframe is likely to be taken off public display for a number of months, possibly years.

This is a real shame, as there is some considerable concern that she will never be viewable to the public again, given the animosity built up between the airfield’s owners, Airbus, and the Trust established to administrate the attraction.

The death of a visitor to the attraction in its early years (who fell off a poorly positioned jetstair) and the apparent mismanagement of donated funds (and I am being charitable in that assessment…) by the Trust which oversees the airframe may have something to do with this.

Well worth a visit in the next three weeks if you are in the area:

Just a bump if you are planning how to entertain the children this weekend; penultimate weekend on display, apparently, though nothing on the homepage to suggest she is being withdrawn from display.
