This was the first time we had flown with China Southern so we were a little anxious about travelling with the airline. We shouldn't have worried.

The cabin crew were delightful and tried exceedingly hard to overcome the language barrier. Every request was greeted with a smile and great patience as we attempted to communicate. We soon learnt to speak clearly and slowly.

The business class cabin was clean and fresh. Seats are comfortable as is the bed arrangement. Toilet facilities were exceptionally clean with excellent amenities.

The food was exceptionally good with a variety to suit most tastes. Our only complaint was the lack of time to study the menu; crew gave us a menu, waited to take orders for the whole flight and then whipped the menu away.

In flight entertainment was so-so and seemed to cater mainly for the Asian market, which is probably not surprising. However, since this was an overnight, it didn't matter too much.

The 787 window dimming cuts out the glare during the daytime but really isn't suitable for the darkness required to sleep.

All in all, it was a very pleasant flight and we are pleased to say we're travelling with China Southern again this year – although, this time, they have a super deal on First Class. Will post on that later.
