Cathay Pacific filling flights with free tickets

    According to Hong Kong’s SCMP the free economy class tickets (taxes and fees are payable) are being handed to staff members throughout the winter months to make flights appear busier.

    As previously reported there has been a fall in visitors to Hong Kong and several services from Europe have seen capacity cuts and in the case of Dublin suspended until 2020.

    My understanding is staff only pay 10% of the full fare price for standby anyway for themselves and previously nominated family.

    Cathay has always been an airline working for their staff rather than their customers. They will not consider even giving perks to their loyality members and prefer to offer it to their staff. Their service is often cool and reluctant. Even the China airlines are much better nowadays, their service very polite and well mannered. It is not only the protest that is ruining Cathay’s business, it is their management and has been for years. time they had a major revamp…
