If you are hiring a car at Leeds Bradford airport, allow yourself plenty of time on your return.

The cars are now at a special village, which is accessible by bus from outside the main terminal. It is not clearly sign posted in that you have to catch the bus which goes to the long term car park.

You are dropped off on the road and have to walk in to the village, whilst not far you will get wet if raining. On return you have to walk back to the road, cross the road and wait at the bus stop for the bus to come from the long term car park.

As we experienced, the bus comes but can’t pick you up as it is full from the car park. At that time there were seven people waiting, by the time the bus had been to the terminal and returned to the car park the number had grown to 12. Lucky the bus was not full from the car park. We probably lost a good 15 minutes.

Arrangements here have not been thought out very well.

NTarrant: Assume then that the old hire car pick-up about 100 yards walk down from the terminal has now closed ? Sounds a bit of a disaster.

It is now closed and part of a car park. We made the mistake of blindly walking down there only to find it gone. It must have happened recently as the Avis Preferred cabin hadn’t opened when we arrived, that was two weeks ago now.
