Readers planning to take the Caledonian Sleeper in the coming weeks ought to be be aware that a strike is planned.

If strike action does take place it would cover services between September 29 and October 1 inclusive.

There could be further action on and from October 2.

I was thinking of a trip in one direction, guess when – just around those dates!
There is not much availability and I would have been doing it for the novelty. On balance day train is probably more reliable and at least you can enjoy the passing scenery.

If all goes to plan – it looks like – the last old style sleeper service with the old style club / bar car is on Friday the 11th up to the Highlands. Noting the day train has its benefits, it doesn’t have the bar carriage and all the history oozing out of the furniture of celebrations / excitement. Very reasonably priced range of malt’s… by chance I am on it…
