Leaving Washington earlier last week on a United flight we were at the gate only to be told the flight would be delayed as the “Pilots were changing their seat cushions” and we would board when this was completed. At least the staff at the gate had the grace to snort at this. Anyone else have unusual reasons for delays?

I was waiting to board a domestic flight in The Phillippines and was told the flight would be delayed by 45 minutes as the cabin crew were waiting in line for their breakfast at a well known fast food outlet.

“”Pilots were changing their seat cushions”

They probably just read the defered defects list for the flight 🙂

    One from me

    – airline leave A321 outside in very low temperatures – minus 16c at 0700

    – capt announces delay – water pipes in a/c frozen, maintenance on way

    – announcement that maintenance have arrived and are warming pipes

    – announcement that aircraft has a leaking water pipe and is u/s

    Go figure
