There is only one lounge at Freetown Airport (grandly called the first class lounge) and you get a voucher for one drink only. Food for purchase. Very basic lounge. No showers or wifi. Views of the tarmac. No dedicated priority boarding. Airport currently undergoing renovation so looks much better

8/30 business seats occupied on first leg to DKR (economy only about 50 seats taken). New seats. The seats look great but there´s no storage so almost everything has to go into the overhead lockers. They recline fully flat but are very narrow. I am almost 2m tall. However I could sleep well in them. Helps to have an extra blanket and pillow for added comfort. There are 10 single seats and 10 pairs in a staggered pattern. Not all seats have direct aisle access.

Welcome drinks of Laurent Perrier Champagne, Kir Royale, orange juice or water. Small snack of two sandwiches served for this 1hr flight to Dakar. Amenity kit, headphones and blanket handed out.

The crew are the same as the inbound journey from Brussels via Dakar and they get off in Dakar (second leg) so work three sectors but then only one the next day DKR-BRU. Excellent crew though I find that with most crew if you build a rapport and have good banter they´re great with you.

One hour wait on board at DKR. Next flight was 5hr 30mins to BRU. Flight filled up here. 26/30 business seats and economy almost full. No menus handed out. Swift dinner and drinks service. Starter, cheese and dessert all served on the one tray and main inserted when you’re through with your starter. Starter was foie gras. Choice of three mains: Rabbit stew, fish or mushroom risotto. Choice of two red wines (Italian and French) and two white (French and South African).

A fruit basket, champagne and magazines are at the front of the cabin.

IFE okay. Older movies but good size screen. Two toilets for business class.

In all an okay flight. Pleasantly surprised.

Now waiting for connecting fight to Frankfurt and no showers in Terminal A at BRU!
