This news report from All Africa shows that the Deputy Minister for Transport says that British Airways will be returning in the very near future to Monrovia in Liberia, I would guess as a tag-on to Freetown. Does anybody else have any more information.

Also, it was mentioned on here that they would also announce a new route in the near future, this was mentioned in the middle of august. Any more information on this as well ?

You are right, there was a rumour, but nothing was announced. I think due to gossip they were forced to announce Colombo before they intended to!
