The flight was delayed by 4+ hours owing to a small technical fault, compounded by a catering truck causing some additional damage, so we had an aircraft change. The information flow was now wonderful and we left the Concorde room too early, but there was a member of special services at the gate to help.

This was one of the rare flights where I had managed to get BA to tag my luggage all the way to my final destination Riyadh, despite having separate tickets. Anyway, things go wrong and experience has taught me that acceptance is better than a rant, maybe I am getting old!

Once on board the cabin crew were fantastic, BA at its best, that level of discrete service and friendly at the same time, and the CSD came round the whole aircraft making sure we had all received the EU delay forms and what needed to be done, so again top marks all round.

An excellent Ron Zacapa XO rum was on offer to start with, followed by souffle, cod, and fig tart, washed down with the Lovedale Semillion from Australia which was excellent. As the flight was running late afternoon tea was on demand.
On arrival at Dubai BA had arranged for me to me met by the Marhaba team and escorted to Terminal 3 to collect my Ek boarding pass and then deposit me at the transit hotel for 2hrs of sleep.

On arrival at Riyadh my bag was one of the first onto the belt, which was my biggest fear. All in all, excellent service recovery and a wonderful crew.
