For those readers familiar with the British Airways OnBusiness programme, bmi operate a similar scheme known as Company Rewards.

Employees of member companies flying on BD flights accrue points in the scheme, as well as earning their own Diamond Club (or other *A) points and miles.

Company Rewards points convert to a monetary value, currently 1 point equals 1GBP, to be used against future bmi flights.

I’ve just received an email offering a choice of three special offers:

    1. Join before 31 Dec 09 and earn double points for 3 months http://bit.ly/7CJMSI

    2. Join before 31 Dec 09 and earn triple points for 2 months http://bit.ly/73JR8a

    3. Join and fly before 31 Dec 09 and get £30 off your next flight http://bit.ly/8wUohf

In the latter instance, the discount is offered in the form of 30 points with a £30 ‘value’.

Company Rewards general info: http://bit.ly/4RZwNN – the links above take you to the specific sign up page with the promotional codes populated.

That’s if you can find any routes they haven’t closed!

Like the DC, where you can never get seats on Star Alliance flights,BMI for all it’s desperate promotions, is finished as a truly International Airline.

Though I agree that the service offered through BD’s call centre is often lamentably poor, I feel it only fair to relate that I was able to fly five of us from the UK to New Zealand in February, using Destination Miles.

We travelled on a combination of SQ, NZ, LH and LX, sampling J and F cabins – with some of us on pure miles and some on ‘cash and miles’ redemptions.

It’s true that some redemptions have become more difficult with the advent of A380 and 77W service, and the apparently bizarre decisions taken by their operating carriers to restrict redemptions on flights so-operated, but with a little research and planning, Diamond Club remains one of the most rewarding FFPs currently in operation.

Likewise, Company Rewards could continue to be valuable to those businesses whose travel patterns continue to be served by BD, even if the gross numbers of those companies will be smaller following today’s news.

And, when thinking about the down-sizing announcement, my thoughts as always go to the c600 staff who will sadly have far more pressing matters with which to contend than whether or not they can get a business class redemption….

So no flights to Europe, unless it is a holiday destination /tourist destination…Middle East routes all but finished…BMI will be broken up for its slots it appears, little other value in it.
They really don’t do anything that other Airlines don’t do already to destinations already served.

Accumulating miles or credits in whatever form with such a Company, is not very wise…

They were advertising £-50 off routes a week ago, & join DC for 3,000 miles, now a week later those routes are to be axed!

Not very joined up Management there….
However, i agree on the point of the staff role & their lives.
The DC has been atrocious for 3 years, & declined significantly. BMI have had a deliberate policy of NOT allowing miles redemptions, to cut down & save costs.
This will increase i hear, in the current financial state of desperation for them.

    More complete hyperbole, as usual.

bmi has one of the best Frequent Flyer schemes, hardly “atrocious” and my experience echoes that of the the other poster above.

A little research has ensured I have taken several trips in F and J, longhaul on Star Alliance airlines on exactly the days I wanted over the past few years using Diamond Club miles.

These miles are amongst the easiest to earn, and status comes relatively easily as well.

A shiny new (black) Gold card popped through the door today….there is mileage yet in this most generous of schemes, even if the airline is a shadow of its former self.
