MartynSinclairParticipantapparently ive heard T5 crew centre is all blacked out cos the strike breakers have been promised anonymity. Non operating crew including those that go off duty on landing are not allowed in the crew centre.
The reason for the revised meal and drinks service is so that operating crew again cannot be identified (i.e. some are pilots, some are cabin crew etc).
A game of soldiers hey!!!

alwaysreadytoflyParticipantIs the latest “print your own boarding card on a mobile phone” promotion by BA mad. Why on earth even joke about Bin Laden in that way and scare customers……
I saw a yahoo news feed from America showing it. Check it out2 Jun 2010

northseatigerParticipantI am actually saddened that in this day and age, European airline cabin crew might be taken in by a union based ideology. Quite honestly, what do they hope to achieve in the long run? That the little man, with power by numbers might hope to advance their cause. They have turned the very people who provide an income to the company they work for against them, they have completely limited their future advancement prospects within the company they work for by alienating the management and they have almost certainly forfeited any advanced career opportunities, for what ? a discussion over perks ? They knew the consequences of their actions prior to any of this. The world has just narrowly scraped, or indeed escaped through a severe recession of epic scales, not seen in living memory. Prior to this, the oil price went so far out of control as to almost ground planes. Get real people, I suggest a spell of 6 months minimum working in the third world on 2 dollars a day, eating a third world meal, living as more than 2/3 of the world population have to live and surviving as they have to survive. If they can pass this aptitude test then they should be able to “qualify” to complain about how terrible their luxurious life in the west actually is. Get a grip people. They have severely upset many ten’s of thousands, if not hundred’s of thousands of affluent customers, like myself, who will simply and easily take their custom elsewhere, and they will have achieved nothing. That is, except a limited future with the company they are lucky to enough to have employment with. Perhaps unemployment benefits are more appealing than £30k + a year, 5 months work mostly in exotic destinations and the hardest part of their day is getting up off their rear end’s and dishing out some pre prepared meal trays, prior to having three days off in a 5 star hotel, with generous expenses. If their job is so terrible, then I suggest they quit and use their highly desirable skills in a sector of modern industry that will remunerate them as they feel they deserve, in this day and age ! Willie Walsh should can them all, and I can almost gaurantee their jobs would be filled in 48 hours if they had a european wide recruitment campaign.

MartynSinclairParticipantWhoever said that the service hasnt changed on longhaul during the strike, is very clearly mistaken. Firstly though the positives. FLight to BKK was half full. Push back a little late, but arrival into BKK was early. Through BKK airport and in my hotel, having waited for 10 minutes for my bag to come through, I houe 10 minutes from deboarding. Excellent.
Now the negative. Two points.
1. Why on earth does BA have a baording gate in terminal 3 at 10.00pm that is over 2km, yes i measured it on my pedometer, away from the exec lounge. It is crazy that the main British Airline makes its pax walk the furthest.
2. The inflight service wasw appalling. I was told in no uncertain terms that the port i requested would only be given to me on one occassion as it was FIRST stock not club world. My usual tipple and its the only time I drink alcohol was not available. The food service (trays) were handed out on a take it or leave it basis. I can live without menus, I can live without too much choice. However, I can not live with being handed food with the major ingrediants not being known. i.e. Chicken curry (how hot? taste it was the answer) ha ha. And the starters, was responded “dont really know what it is”. This shoul dnot happen in premier classes. I had asked to eat in the T3 lounge, but the snacks put out were too heavy, no fish options and the dining room itself was only reserved for First pax. It may have made more sense to allow Club worl pax, to eat in the dining room or at elast had use of that menu during the strike. As usual with BA, no comment.
I did sleep for 6 hours so that was another psitive.
COme on, get this sorted please.

TravellatorParticipantI think we can all be supportive of BA up to a POINT !
Whenever what you get is not what you paid for there is a breach of contract, will be interested to see what compensation you are offered.
I do not want compensation just the product I paid for.
I am still smarting about BA’s attitiude to my 2 downgraded Club Europe flights using contract airlines.
VK has already said that the level of refund between club and euro traveller is unfair.
As you say get it sorted !

I endorse your words100%. I too am not after compensation or additional airmiles, just the full service I have paid for – all i get is a single page letter of apology, not even a few more airmiles and an acceptance that the 2 other sectors of my ticket, which is fully flex will be flown.
Today I have 3 sectors on Singapore Airlines in economy. Whilst i wont use this thread to “update” you all, I do think I will recieve aht I pay for,………..today at least.
Safe travels one and all.

lloydahParticipantCould not agree with Travellator more. I’m fed up thinking about what the compensation might be or what the service may or may not include. I simply want what I’ve paid for. I’m lucky in as much as I have been able to juggle my flight days and am not going to die simply by having to fly economy for an hour or so but my summer hols’ flights are different. Transatlantic in F. I have promised my wife check in at zone J, Concorde Room, champers on board and a great start to a well earned rest. It’ll not be the best start if any of that goes tits up.
