Not sure if this is the correct thread for you unhappywithservice. Perhaps you should start a new one or add it to one of the other ‘unhappy with BA service’ ones. It’s hard to work out what your particular issue is – there are well publicised compensation that airlines need to pay in the event of overbooking. You say ‘to sort out a resolution over the ongoing e-vouchers they gave us’. Did you not receive them? Are they not working? Are you expecting more? I would say if BA haven’t made further contact since 2014 you could say they consider it case closed. Have you considered calling them instead of email ping pong and writing to the CEO? If you have a case reference number whoever you get on the phone will be able to let you know where your case currently sits.

An interesting screen name, “unhappywithservice”, I would guess this person is either a constant complainer and I missed previous posts, is a one post wonder, or is actually just unhappy with life in general.

It does cover a multitude of complaints though, anything from escort girls to church vicars, so probably saves devising a new one for each occasion!

Friends, can I make a suggestion. It’s probably best to either ignore posts like this or to just post one message reminding them that they should start a new thread. Any continued discussion becomes as annoying as the original comment itself. We’re all very interested in our thread and it’s a bit of a hassle to access the message board upon receipt of an email only to find something else being discussed. Just sayin!

rferguson, you hit the nail on the head regarding bums on the seats versus yields. My best friend and family (also from Bengaluru, living in Dallas) are flying DFW-BLR via LHR on BA tonight. Round trip ticket cost them 900$. Another family is on the same flight but holidaying in London instead – 1200$! I’m a beneficiary of this myself. I’m flying in September from Seattle – Budapest – Bengaluru – Seattle (with transits in LHR, all BA metal) and it cost me 1500$. I checked prices for Seattle – Budapest – Seattle (again, all BA metal and same dates) and it was around 1350$. So yes, for an additional 150$ more, I get to fly home!

Also, apologise for going a bit off topic here but how are yields on Mexico City for the European biggies? Literally every carrier flies their 747s down there!

Looks as though BA will be operating the B787 to TLV this winter.

If you check ba.com for flights next winter you will see BA162/163 are rostered for a B787.

Once again it proves, as others have previously noted, the wide variation on aircraft type/on board product you get from European airlines when taking flights to Israel or the Levant.

Interesting development. Might we see a LH product on IST and the other Eastern Med destinations when the 767s are sent to the desert?

Well the period which my thread is discussing is fast approaching and there is STILL no real news, even though the 789s are arriving in I think just over two months, which demonstrates all they will do initially is be allocated to a 788 or 772 existing route.

But I read on another site that there will be big announcements coming in the next week regarding their long haul network, so if this is actually the case, does anyone know, or “feel”, what could be in store?

Might have been mentioned in a previous thread but I just don’t see BA putting the 789 on 788 routes because of the 3 class v 4 class issue. The 788 is on routes where there isn’t the demand for First so why run the risk of an empty premium cabin? Replacement for 4 class 772 makes more sense.

Air France – flies internationally from multiple cities/airports
Lufthansa – flies internationally from multiple cities/airports
SAS – flies internationally from multiple cities/airports

Isn’t it about time that Trading Standards insist on a name change to London Airways?

@karlmarx, 100% agree with you. ME3 and some of the American carriers have proved there is business to be had long haul from the regions, BA just seem so London centric, and they are the biggest complainers on a lack of capacity at LHR. If they introduced an Edinburgh NYC, LA and say Bangkok route, they would reduce demand on the London Edinburgh route. The consequence of that is a spare A319 for the new Sou-Mad route……….perfect.

Edited to add: at one end of the SOU runway is motorway, immovable, at the other end is a virtually unused massive railway siding whereby the SOU runway could be extended by 200 yards or so allowing The airport to be a real alternative for European mainline aircraft routes and thus not needing a new runway at LHR!

    KarlM & Mr M:
    +1
Sadly (as said previously) a decent Edin/Glas base would give loads of better/faster connections both east & west – what would be useful would be connections by fast train direct to such an airport

But, it seems that the SNP are too wimpy to get this going

@Mr Michael – I’m not really sure the comparisons with ME3 and US airlines is really like for like.

Emirates funnels traffic into a hub at Dubai where they connect to Emirates flights to numerous destinations. The US airlines funnel traffic in the US where they connect to numerous other US destinations.

BA doesn’t have a hub to funnel into apart from LHR, and I doubt there is enough point to point traffic for say Edinburgh to LA.
