BA has replaced its current Standard Bank Avios card in the South African market with an offering from Absa:
This is in advance of the 12 February launch of its A380 flight to South Africa.7 Feb 2014
Here is the link from the bank, I think you get a 5,000 bonus for your first transaction:

Appears to be a Barclaycard under the covers.7 Feb 2014
ABSA is Barclays in disguise. My current credit and debit cards both have the Barclays logo on them as do all my statements etc.
The spend rate seems very good, at current roe’s it’s 41p and 28p per Avios. How does that compare to a UK issued card?7 Feb 2014
It’s a good spend ratio, similar to the UK’s but
I get 1.5 avios per £1 spent, 3 avios per £1 on BA spend.
At present I am benefitting from an Amex promo, so I get an additional avios per £1 spent.
The “Amex Voucher” is where the real value is to be had – after a £10k spend this effectively doubles the value of your avios, and is the best deal available.10 Feb 2014
