The news re BA’s Accra-London flights being transferred to Gatwick has made today’s Independent. (January 27)

Search under “Ghana government fury over British Airways’ Heathrow to Gatwick move.”

Judging by BTL comments on news channels here, most people think it is just sabre rattling. They are also doubtful as to whether people realise that Gatwick is still quite a big and modern airport and not that far from London.

Anyway, given how things stand in the UK now, I doubt I will be experiencing my planned trip at Easter now, nor indeed my trip in mid May. That leaves the next one as September, as it stands. Fingers crossed!

Interesting article in the Independent where Ghana is making quite silly threats to BA about tit for tat measures like routing BA flights to Kumasi.

I honestly didn’t realise Gatwick was twice as far from Central London….if travelling from West End on the train there is little in it.

Honestly, why doesn’t Ghana secure some slots at Heathrow and start competing for all the unhappy customers. Perhaps flights could be run by Goldstar, Global Ghana or one of those fake airlines that Ghana seems to specialise in?

    What a laugh, honestly.

I have just had a notification from BA that my flight from London to Accra in September will now be departing from LHR T5, rather than from Gatwick. Interesting development!
