MartynSinclairParticipantThere is a hive of activity at the T5 check in area. The direct lounge access work has commenced and is due to open in April.
The lovely check in lady gave me the full rundown (as it stands today). There will be a corridor with “a few shops” for those eligible to use F check in.
However she did confirm, following passenger research, there would be strict criteria for using the facility – eligible passengers, plus 1 guest only. Like with the lounge access, families will be turned away if there are insufficient eligible travellers.

JohnHarperParticipantIs that a corridor that goes along the upper level to the north lounge, down the escalator to the lower level to the south escalator and back up again to the lounges? 😉

FDOS_UKParticipantThis is an enhancement for London passengers.
It may have imited use, when transferring to the regions, requiring one to clear immigration, take the lift up to departures and then use the new channel.
And there is not even a ePassport option for people connecting international/domestic at T5.
Not great provision for premium pax connecting to domestic services, is it?

FlightlevelParticipantWhats the point of ePassport machines when they don’t operate for many flight times.A recent full A380 went to the one immigration officer for UK passports ‘though another officer soon woke up to assist. Pretty red lights on the ePassport machines to make sure we weren’t drowsy from an overnight flight!
