BA had its Capital Markets Day today and this included its rollout plans for the new Club World Suite.

By the end of this year 5% of longhaul aircraft will have them (A350/777-200)

By the end of next year 33%. This will involve a continuation of the 777-200, the start of the 777-300’s plus the first arrivals of the 787-10’s.

End of 2021 52% will be reconfigured hitting just over the half mark. This will include more 777-200/300’s, more 787-10 arrivals and the commencement of work on the 787-8’s.

2022 years end see 79% of longhaul aircraft reconfigured. The 777’s will more or less be complete by this date and work will focus on the 787-8’s, 787-9’s and the arrival of the 777-9.

92% of the fleet will be complete by 2023 including the start of work on the A380’s.

By 2025 the work should be complete and the longhaul fleet at 100%.

I’m guessing this may also be RIP year for the 747 🙁

Can this be bench marked against a similar project for a similar sized airline?

As the A380 will be the last type of aircraft to be fitted, this means that BA will keep flying the A380 till 2030. Good News.

Are all the 777-200 with club suite flying JFK next year?

Air France started in 2017 and announced this week that by the end of 2020, 80% would be done. They wont hit the 100% as long as they fly the A380.

Maybe against BA themselves when they first brought in the original flat bed Club World?

Speaking of club suites, aircraft replacements etc. does anyone want to place a wager on which aircraft my favorite LHR-CPT route will see? Currently served by 747’s (and an old 777 from LGW), my family is expecting the oldest 777 BA can find… maybe they’ll even outsource it to evelop for extra fun?
