BA744fanParticipantJust noticed on http://www.airlineroute.net that less than a fortnight after announcing double daily A380s to LAX in summer 2014, the service will now be 1x A380 + 1x B744.
Could this mean another A380 route is to be announced, or does this signal possible delays in the delivery schedule?

VintageKrugParticipantAs is stated in the link, the double daily was only ever tentative, no “guarantee” was ever made. Here is the actual link:

I wouldn’t read too much into it. As this is for ops after 30 March 2014; a lot can happen between now and then.
QF also rostered 744s on the Kangaroo route only to replace them with A380 nearer the time. Better to encourage people who want to fly A380 to book the flight most likely to be an A380, and give others on the 744 a nice surprise if they do indeed end up with the big bus.
As ever, it should be remembered that particular aircraft should never be expected on any route as there are many factors which can cause changes, even up to the last minute; I’ve even been taxiing for take off and turned back to the gate to change equipment….

VintageKrugParticipantAs it happens, the taxi out and return to gate was at DFW…on American Airlines.
I’m looking forward to trying out the new BA A380 flagship:

NameRemoved-18/12/14ParticipantLikewise… the only time it has happened to me was on an AA domestic flight from JFK.
I too am looking forward to the A380. Do you think JNB is a possible candidate?

sparkyflierParticipantI reckon so Alexpo. It was always mentioned as one of the cities that A380 would ply when they first announced the aircraft order. I reckon it will be serving that route within a year. Someone like VK will know when the aircraft are scheduled too join, but following LAX and HK I suspect SFO, Joburg and even JFK will be next on the list.

BA744fanParticipantVK – The A380 looks fantastic in BA colours. I booked a ticket in CW on the inaugural flight to HKG on 15th November, then changed the departure to a fortnight later fearing there might be slippage in the delivery schedule and BA wouldn’t be able to honour their start date.

LuganoPirateParticipantLooks great. Even Economy seems to have bags of room, or is that clever photography? However, unless I missed it, I didn’t see any film of First. Have BA dropped it on the 380?

BA744fanParticipantLuganoPirate – BA will operate 4 classes on the A380.

HippocampusParticipantBA never made any official announcement about twice daily A380 services to Los Angeles.
