I missed my flight to Berlin yesterday by 5mins (dreaded delays on Bakerloo line!) . BA agent said I couldn’t be transferred to the next flight because of the ticket restrictions – fair enough – had to buy another oneway and pay the tax all over again – BA agent wasn’t able to explain why this is – anyone had any experience like this?? Do BA keep the extra tax – does BAA get double tax – does it disappear into the ether??!

You can claim a refund of taxes but BA reserve the right to charge a admin fee.

10c2) If you have not used any part of the ticket, the refund will be equal to the fare and any surcharge and any taxes, fees and charges you have paid, less any cancellation and reasonable service charge
