Just out of curiosity, this flight left LHR over 3 hours late, and according to flightradar 24 did a 360 degree return somewhere over Serbia.

Just wondered if any reader could shed light on this .. technical fault perhaps ?

I don’t have an answer for your question but suggest to keep a watch on https://avherald.com/ as they list most issues with aircraft, the LHR-DXB isn’t listed yet but guess it will appear.

Did you really mean a 360 degree “turn” – which would mean it just went around in a circle over Serbia, hence no report (yet) – or did you mean a 180 degree turn and a return to LHR?

The same aircraft was damaged in an incident at LHR on the 2nd DEC when it suffered a tail strike damage and only landed on the second attempt.
It is perhaps reasonable to suspect that the turn back on the 5th was the result of damage due to the earlier incident.

According to AvHerald the plane damaged on Sunday was G-XWBC

The flight radar for the flight doing a 180 degree turn over Serbia was G-XWBA
