American Airlines will end its flights between Stansted (STN) and New York (JFK) on 2nd July 2008.

Passengers already booked for 3rd July or later, will be contacted and transferred to services from Heathrow.

The reasons given are to reduce costs in the face of raising oil prices and provide a sustainable supply and demand.

This will leave Stansted with no direct flights to New York.
