Twice in the past month I have experienced the worst and frankly most frightening airport security lapses at the same airport, on the Greek Island of Zakynthos.

I watched as not only myself but countless other travellers were waved through by security with no body search, despite setting off the metal detecting arch. The same thing happened on both of the two separate occasions on which I visited the island in June and July.

Zakynthos might seem like a small and insignificant airport, but has hundreds of weekly charter flights to UK and other destinations, and would therefore be the ideal ‘soft’ target for terrorists.

I feel morally obliged to do something about this.
