First it was the airlines. Now we are seeing the travel slump affect other areas of aviation like the airports themselves.
It’s interesting to note that such staff cannot simply be rehired in the future.
I have been told by a security expert that would have to be vetted, obtain airside passes, training and so on before they could be re-employed.
Menzies is based in Edinburgh and that airport is suffering from the downturn. The Scotsman reports that 100 of its 750 staff are being made redundant.
