Air India is completely privatized today and handed over to Tata group.

Tata group have very good experience and reputation in hospitality sectors in addition to their other business.

The timing may be tough when travel industry is faring badly.
Hope Tata can revive Air India that was once a reasonably good airline service-wise.

The good thing Tata Group have going for them is a good reputation for hospitality and current experience including ownership of the Taj group of hotels, amongst others. They own Vistara, which is a good (if young) carrier with excellent service levels, which is a partnership with Singapore Airlines. Hopefully they’ll be able to steady Air India and get it up to world class standards. I’ve flown them a few times 20 plus years ago and they were very good (in premium cabins).

    Air India has returned home!

The airline began when JDR Tata, together with Neville Vincent, ex RAF set up Tata Air Services having won the contract from Imperial airways to carry mail between Karachi and Bombay. Mr Tata is famous in aviation history and had the distinction of being the holder of the very first Commercial Airline Pilots License India, License No:1.
