S7 is about to be a full oneworld member later this year,

S7 Airlines (brand of Sibir Airlines) is the major airline on domestic air routes of Russia.

The airline tracks its history back to 1957 when the first commercial flight was made from the military airfield in Novosibirsk Region served by Tolmachevsky United Air Group. Sibir Airlines was formed around this air group. Since 2005 Sibir flies under S7 Airlines brand.

S7 Airlines operates the largest domestic flight network in Russia built around the three hubs in Moscow (Domodedovo), Novosibirsk (Tolmachevo) and Irkutsk. S7 Airlines makes regular flights to Europe, Middle East, Southern Asia and Asian Pacific destinations.

Now S7 operates the most modern and “youngest” fleet in Russia with the average aircraft age of 6 years. All flights are served with foreign Airbus and Boeing aircraft only. S7 has 32 aircrafts on its fleet: 19 Airbus A319s, nine Airbus 320s, two Airbus 310s and two long-haul Boeing 767-300s.

    S7 has those future orders:

With Airbus has 23 orders of the A320s family aircraft, the order was placed on 18 June 2007,

From Boeing, Russia’s S7 Group has ordered 10 Next-Generation 737-800s. Moscow-based S7 Group will operate the aircraft through S7 Charter, a newly-established charter airline that will use its 737-800s on routes connecting Moscow to numerous popular resort destinations outside of Russia.

S7 was the first Russian airline that ordered 787s with an order of 15 of them, although the Russian airline at 29 january 2009 canceled this order. It was the first airline to cancel a major contract for the 787.

S7 did not give a reason for the cancellation but said it “retains interest in using the Dreamliner” and will look to lease the planes instead.

S7 Airlines, together with Globus airline, S7 Tour, international tour operator, S7 Ticket, ticket and tour package retail chain, and several other companies engaged in commercial air travel is a part of S7 Company Group.

The airlines forming S7 Company Group carried 5.6 million passengers in 2009. S7 Airlines reconfirmed its leadership in number of passengers carried domestically with 3.5 million customers on flights in Russia.
