I just had a look at this site too, its very interesting, probably more suited to enthusiasts as it has a lot of technical information, but fasinating.

Recently found http://www.airport-codes.com which has a good section for flown mileages. Ideal for working out how many miles you have flown on your multi sector trips and dropping it in a conversation at a dinner party!!

Thanks for that, N! I’ve been looking for a site that would give me some idea of how far I’ve flown over the last 35 years – I now have to find the time to go back over my diaries and look up the flights and calculate the mileage. I’ll be in touch next year…..

One of the many useful features of this site is that you can see punctuality and reliability statistics by route, airline and even flight. If you’ve ever found yourself thinking “the evening flight from X to Y is always being cancelled” this tool will reassure you that you are not being paranoid. (Some of the punctuality stats are truly appalling.)

On that note – something else useful: EUClaim (http://www.euclaim.co.uk/) is a service which tries to claim compensation for passengers after delayed or cancelled flights. If the airline says that passengers are not entitled to compensation, EUClaim verifies the airline’s excuses against the recorded position of aircraft at particular times to demonstrate, for example, that a given aircraft did not have a technical problem. I’ve got no affiliation with this company and have not used it but it sounds like an interesting and worthwhile service. My understanding is that EUClaim works on a no-win-no-fee basis retaining a percentage of payments from successful claims.
