6. UHT milk.

9. Strips of coloured cloth along the bottom of a bed – no, this does not make a chain property into a boutique hotel.
10. No stationery.
11. No armchair.
12. The wrong morning paper – worse than no paper at all.
13. Plastic tumblers.

22. Loo rolls with a sticker on the free end.
23. Shampoo or soap which you need a knife (taken off you at security) to open.
24.Room service which takes 45 minutes.

Papillion53Participant28. Unsuitable and useless coat hangers
29. Half sized ironing boards
30. Room for two, towels for one!
31. Silly small bottles of shampoo, shower gel especially shower gelJust heard from the DH that due to the grounding of helicopters in ABZ yesterday and today, hotels have doubled their rack rates. And
Last night on a well known hotel booking site, one hotel (national chain) was charging £600 yes SIX HUNDRED POUNDS STERLING for a standard room – I know the hotel, it’s a basic 3star and on a good day I wouldn’t pay more than £60! I won’t name and shame. Shocking behaviour.
Anyway I told him we have a very nice log cabin and Mrs P can cook a mean brekkie ….. Only joking!

Papillion53ParticipantSimonhb – tip – always ask for two keys and then hopefully at least one will work!

Deleted_UserParticipantHello papillion
I have often wondered why in certain hotels I am given 2 keycards when travelling alone. ‘Do I look like someone who plays away?’

Henkel.TrockenParticipant35. Returning to my room after a morning’s work to find it has not yet been serviced.
36. Shower temperature controls that are ineffective and the only setting is luke warm.

38. A robe that was made for a midget even though it says extra large on it.
39. Towels that have seen better days – several years ago.
40. Being charged for a basic thing you might have forgotten e.g. shaving gel which is supplied in a tiny container and you are charged more double what you would normally pay for a regular one.24 Oct 2012

dutchyankeeParticipantAs an owner of 4, all-be-it small, hotels I have read this thread with a smile, and will take some of the more realistic points to heart and share with my various teams. Maybe my 5th hotel will be able to meet all of the above expectations.
