“T&c’s say the 20,000 are not available to existing American Express customers.see below”

Which was stated in my first post:-
“… allows current cardholders to refer new card holders….”

“So simply put, if you have a £1,000 spend coming up in the next few months, DON’T CURRENTLY HAVE AN AMEX CREDIT CARD, then apply using the link below, and you get 22K BA avios for absolutely no charge.”

I should have widened that to “AN AMEX CHARGE/CREDIT CARD”

Thanks to those that have used my referral link for the gold card. As noted above, as well as being of benefit for those taking up the offer, i get some points for being the referree. I see 3 lots of points coming in, so that means those 3 people have all been accepted for the card and are on their way to 22k free points. I post this because often the referree sees the points come in before the card applicant has heard back that the application has been approved. Note i have no idea who applied as all I see is some points coming in.

For those that are new to points collection, I have a blog, updated occasionally, charting my experiences putting together a high quality multi centre holiday, in so far as possible, exclusively using frequent flyer programmes, starting with no points at all in any programme.
You can view how I am getting on thus far here.

Hi Folks.. apologies delay in getting back…

As i sign into my KLM a/c it is featured on the log in page. If you have an account sign in and you should find the link featured on your page bottom right.

    http://www.americanexpress.com/uk/gold-card/

This is the base link i can find from outside the KLM account for you…

It offers you the same offer, with using the points for any of the Airlines in the points program, but for KLM /AF, these 20,000 miles are very valuable, and buy much more.

I took it out several weeks ago, card received, no first year charge, and an Amex “Lounge Pass” card / program, which covers worldwide access to varying Company Lounges. They include No 1 and servisair lounges in the UK.
It is a proper AMEX, not an MBNA spin off, as the VS Amex card i have, and it is a charge card.

Clearly I am not advertising or running a blog, so I hope someone else finds some benefit from it.

There is the KLM Flying Blue Amex in the Netherlands, but the UK card has not been available linked to the program since recently.

Personally, I think it good to review your credit and Charge cards every so often as different offers with your different Airline groups come up. You can often get repeat offers to keep or re-gain your loyalty after you switch…

Think that this one only offers 2 visits per year. I was looking at it previously, when I thought I was going to have to pay the £450 this year for the Platinum (luckily my renewal was before the increase).

The platinum card is indeed £450, and requires £2000 spend. Some people keep it for a few months and then cancel and get part of the fee back. There is a link on my blog for anyone that wants to apply for that one. However there is already a thread regarding the plat card on here, this thread is specifically about the gold card.

The gold card is great for those that have £1000 to spend anyway, and don’t want to pay a fee for the card itself. Simply spend £1000 on the card and you get the 22K, provided you use my link in the first post (or indeed the gold link on my blog).

The gold card offer has been devalued somewhat. You now get 12k points instead of 22k points, and you need to spend 2k in three months. It is still a no brainier for anyone that has some spend coming up, as the card still has no fee for the first year.

The link for the offer can be found on my travel blog:-

As of today, 21st sept, the gold card now gives you 22K MR points again, and the card is still fee free. AMEX switch the referral bonuses on this card a lot, it was 22k, then down to 12K and now it’s back up to 22K. Don’t know how long it’ll stay there this time.

Provided you don’t already have a card that collects MR points, and you have £2000 to spend over the next three months, then this card is a no brainer,it’s free, you get 22KMR point that you can convert to 22K BA Avios miles at any time. Check out my blog for the referral link. You’ll need to use the referral link, otherwise you just get 20K points.

I am amazed that Amex has continued with the same level of referral bonuses right thru to December. I would assume these will be changed shortly, havn’t known them to continue at this high level for so long.

So anyone that currently doesn’t have an Amex, and has upcoming spend to do, would be a good to to take advantage of these offers.

Gold card is still exceptional value, free for the first year, 22k bonus membership reward points( that can be transferred to BA miles amongst others) when you spend £2000 in first 3 months.

Referral link is here (you only get 20K points if you apply without referral):-

    https://www.americanexpress.com/uk/mgm/friendgold.cgi?MGM_URN=AAAAEhwTHRETCQ==&om_rid=NtPXiN&om_mid=_BPyD5AB8aLFhGu&om_lid=amex9

Platinum card is expensive at £450 a year, but you do get 52,000 points when you spend £2000 in the first 3 months, which is enough for a return flight to LA (plus taxes). Once you’ve done your spend, you can get your points then cancel the card and get a pro rata refund.

The above stated bonuses are only available if you are referred, the sign up bonuses are less if you go directly to the Amex website (try it and see).

For referral links for either of the two cards, check out my blog.

Note that BA are only offering that one can buy more Avios (30% more)

However, the rate/price per Avios is still the same [There is no ‘sale’ or ‘promotion’]

    24,000 avios for stg £399

24,k used to be the annual limit but now you can buy up to 35,000 avios
