FlightDoctor – can thoroughly recommend the J cabin in the ex US Air A330’s that AA use. The seats are not brand new, but are very similar to CX’s J seat. Perhaps not as many bells and whistles, but comparable.

I’ve not flown AA’s 787, be great for you to share your thoughts on that once you’ve finished your trip.

Connecting should be a breeze, particularly on the way back as AA’s terminal at ORD is easy to navigate and there are 2 x business lounges and 1 x first lounge, which you can access if you are OW Emerald. The business lounges are fairly mediocre (you should be given drinks vouchers), the first lounge has a reasonable range of food and drink, though is quite small.

Martyn – I think CLT is a great airport to connect through, so suspect you’ll have a good experience. I flew CLT-DUB and I think the flight time was short, just a tad over 6 hours.
