Not sure when you lived there Peter, but at various moments the route was served by Crossair, Darwin and Swiss. Darwin used to keep the front 3 rows for Swiss which could be booked via the Swiss website but at a much higher price than if booked direct with Darwin. Those three rows were usually empty!
Coming up from Lugano you’d walk of the one plane, and then walk directly onto the next one which was parked just in front.
There was a period when no-one served Berne but now Skyworks serves the LCY route it stops in Basel but you don’t get off the plane. They need the BSL pax to make the route pay though I believe they get an annual subsidy from the Federal Transport budget to keep serving Berne. I can’t give figures but there’s a surprising amount of diplomatic travel between the two countries, and more so now with Brexit on the horizon.
