Like IanFromHKG and others, I realised many years ago that RTW ticketing can be very cost effective in comparison with the cost of flexible transatlantic return tickets in business class, although I must admit the last one I flew was in 2001. On this occasion, I exploited a Star Alliance itinerary, with the following sectors:
LHR – SFO UA
SFO – LAX UA
LAX – MEL UA
MEL – SIN SQ
SIN – LHR SQ
All in 10 days.

I flew DUB – JFK – DUB on an AA 757 last year. Angled lie flat in business, although service, meals and IFE were quite acceptable. Clearing US immigration in DUB was a major benefit.
