As Anastasia notes above, there is no doubt that Little Red has attractive prices. In some cases you can book Little Red for roughly the same price (once the ancillary fees are considered) as you might pay with Easyjet.
And as I wrote in Platform this month (Business Traveller, June 13) this must concern incumbent TOC East Coast in case some rail passengers are tempted to defect.
Little Red is adding over 1,000 one-way seats every day to the London-Edinburgh route and not all of these will be transfer passengers (ie those making connections to other international flights at LHR).
But if sufficient transfer passengers do not materialise then I wonder for how long the Little Red venture will carry on. At the prices it’s charging now, it cannot be an economical operation.
