Wehad been booked to fly to London City with an onward connection from Gatwick – this somewhgat convoluted routing due to Avios seat availability.
Woke bright and early to see both text and e-mail messages from BA to notify us that our LCY flight had been cancelled and to contact BA online or by phone to sort things out. Very good proactivity here, I thought.
Anyway, the alternative flight soon showed online – direct to Gatwick, a flight previously unavailable for Avios booking. So a couple of hours longer in bed and no cross-London transfer – thank you, BA.
We arrived at Glasgow Airport in good time and were able to check our bags through to Faro (another benefit) and then headed up to the BA Lounge for a relaxing coffee. The flight was called in the Lounge and, because of our late addtion to the manifest, we were seated in Row 23. However, we were first aboard from the rear and seated on a full flight.
We pushed back on time and, once airborne, breakfast was served – it was the 09.20 service so just within the breakfast window. This was tasty and fresh (egg, bacon, sausage, tomatoes and a roll) and served with good humour and smiles. Hot coffee followed.
We handed a few minutes early and, notwithstanding thge rear seat, were soon off the aircraft and en route to the First Lounge.
