I am really keen to try the Ireland connection for USA. The thought of arriving as a domestic into the USA from the “UK”, I see as very beneficial.
LCY though is a very expensive cab ride for me, both in terms of cost and time. To use the undergound is too much of a hassle.
Therefore the Aer Lingus option via Dublin, from Heathrow, appeals, although I would lose out on my BA points.
The only other question / query is why is Ireland the only country, apart from Canada, that has this pre clearance arrangement? (or do flights from Iceland have an immigration clearance before departure). Are the immigration officials dressed as they are in the USA, i.e. with guns, as I recall this was always an issue at LHR.
All very interesting
Kind regards Martyn
PS Senator – I believe that 60B from JFK is not a designated crew seat.
PPS – I am off to BKK shortly on BA9/B10 and yes I have 60J on both sectors, so unless BT remove that thread, it may get some additional posts shortly.
