Baggage claim at Manaus has an agricultural feel to it, but was rapid (refers to flight in). Landside departures at Manaus feels modern but there is a real lack of seating (nothing unusual there). Food and shopping not good, not bad, typically Brazilian 'provincial'. Airport layout feels a bit odd and not immediately logical. Airside is basic, feeling like a Stansted type place at the start of the LCC era. Seemed to be just about the right amount of seats, some food stands around the side and that's it, all in 1 room. Doesn't leave a clear space for gate queues though. Boarding was average.
Plane itself was like every other GOL 737 I flew on, very average with no IFE and seats covered in a slightly grubby grey cloth. Perfectably serviceable but a bit old. Typical slightly cramped width wise too and not good for sleeping (important as many flights from Manaus leave in the early hours). One odd and slightly alarming thing was that a top football team was on board and a couple of their players were, I guess, showing off. Even after we'd backed off the stand they were getting up and walking around and no cabin crew did anything about it. They were sat again by take off but still….
Rio International is OK but should, apparently, be much improved by 2016.
